Images via Wood Wood This is the Jamal shirt from Wood Wood (available in "pristine" and Kentucky blue) and I'm unsure about whether or not to call it a polo. My own shaky relationship with polo shirts has been well-documented on this very blog, so I'll try not to rehash it here, but I must mention one of my problems with polos is the partial closure and its tendency toward stuffiness. Since the Jamal shirt is not afflicted by a paltry placket, I find myself far more attracted to it than to its more traditional golf shirt cousins. It may seem like I'm hating on polos and I regret that. It's not that I deeply dislike the shirts -- one should never let a bit of piqué prompt a fit of pique -- it's just that having been the member of neither country club, nor fraternity, I've had little opportunity to grow comfortable with the style. It's as alien to me as civil liberties are to Vladimir Putin. Maybe the Jamal shirt can provide me with a chance to ease my way into polo shirts, like slowly raising the temperature of water to boil a frog or slowly putting dioxin in food to kill your political enemies -RB
