Scholar MFG is an LA-based label, created by a couple of admen, Will Campbell and Will Johnson, collectively known as Gentlemen Scholar. They refer to Scholar MFG as an "artful neoluxury leather brand", which is an exceptionally pretentious way to say they make nice leather bags. The founders refer to themselves as "tastemakers", which is an exceptionally pretentious way to say they are #influencers. While these buzzwords might make me suspicious that the brand might be elevating style over substance and my more general ambivalence toward backpacks has been well documented, I must confess that this particular knapsack stirs something inside me.
