A CRUCIAL PIECE OF SURVIVAL GEAR FOR LIFE IN THE CONCRETE JUNGLE

A year ago yesterday, I moved to LA. I had never been to California before, never even been to the West Coast, before stepping off the plane at LAX. Since then, I learned how to drive (I'm from the New York metro area, where we just use this thing called "public transportation").

This is called a 'train'.
I got an apartment in Silver Lake and grew out my beard to a neighborhood-appropriate length. I started doing yoga and adding wheatgrass to my protein shakes. I've gone native.

All told, it's been a great year, so Happy Anniversary, Los Angeles! You can show your appreciation by buying me this MA1 fishtail jacket from Maharishi:

Ah, let us bask in its glory. This isn't just a superfly jacket, it's a crucial piece of survival gear for life in the concrete jungle. How else will I stay safe patrolling the farmers' market or waiting in line for a flat white?

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, Maharishi's Upcycled collection is next level craziness. Here's a blurb from their website:
"These processes are carried out in India, where the clothing is smudged with herbal incense, blessed, and washed in saffron water to symbolically cleanse it of its military associations".
While this doesn't matter to me in the least, I admire the thought and dedication behind it. Do they ritually cleanse the clothes at the Gap to remove the associations with mediocrity?* Case closed, bitch.

One thing: that fishtail costs about 500 USD, so buy it for me now, while the dollar is strong.

*Apologies to the Gap. Haters gonna hate, amirite?
