Some days, I feel like an idiot. Today is one of those days. I just spent half an hour cleaning an impacted assful of old grounds out of my coffee grinder, due to the fact that I haven't cleaned it since I bought it. I guess I need to take my own advice and clean all the ceiling fans in my life. While I wallow in self-pity, please enjoy this close-up of fabric:
That's the Silk Linen Indigo Dyed Nepped Herringbone Over Coat from Blue Blue Japan and it's 309 USD over at Unionmade, where they're having their end of season sale. Although there are many nice things being discounted, I want to look at coats because it's summer and I live in LA.
There's the same BBJ coat in all it's glory. The asymmetrical pocket game is decidedly on point and I like how it seems to have been designed for good-looking painters who spend their summers backpacking across Europe, sketching old doors and having tantric sex with their fellow travelers at various seedy hostels.
"Mo' money, mo' pockets" as the old saying goes and TS(S) delivers with this Cotton Linen Chambray Cloth Cardigan Coat that combines many things I like -- pockets, textured fabric, a cardigan-style neckline -- to become something I love. Plus, since it's a 55% cotton / 45% linen blend, you could get away with rocking this in spring and fall with just a t-shirt and jeans, provided you live in a place that actually has noticeable seasons.
Let's wrap up with something straight wintry: this Wool Donegal Mackintosh from Golden Bear, a coat so fire it makes me want to move to a cooler climate solely to justify buying it. And it's a Unionmade exclusive, so you should buy it now if you're in the market for a badass, American-made overcoat to sweat through at next year's Pitti Uomo.
